WHY SHRED?

'Why shred

By not properly disposing of any personal or confidential information when it is no longer needed, you risk it falling into the wrong hands and being used to commit ID fraud. Shred any paper waste that you would not want to fall into the hands of a stranger.

Having a shredder located near or next to your desk where you can shred immediately makes it easier to dispose of documents securely. It provides increased, instant protection as documents do not have to be stored prior to collection and disposal. In addition, immediate, on-site shredding increases internal compliance with any document disposal policy in place as employees are more likely to shred if they can do it when they need to.

WHICH SHREDDER?

The shredder selector tool within this site will tell you or your company which shredder you should be using based on your selection criteria.

Think about the following when considering your shredding requirements:

WHERE WILL THE SHREDDER BE USED?

Select a shredder that’s right for the job. For example, a shredder designed for occasional use in the home is not as robust as an office shredder for 3-5 users. The more use it gets, the more often you will need to be empty it, resulting in work stoppages. Choose the right shredder for where and how often it will be used.

WHAT LEVEL OF SECURITY DO YOU REQUIRE?

Different shredders offer different levels of security. The security categories are called DIN levels. The higher the DIN level, the greater the protection.

We recommend at least a DIN 3, cross-cut shredder to all users to ensure paper waste is destroyed into unreadable pieces.

WHICH FEATURES WILL MAKE YOUR JOB EASIER?

Consider the following:

  • Avoid the frustration of having to clear paper jams; choose a 100% Jam Proof shredder
  • Safety features like SafeSense ensure the machine stops when fingers get too close
  • For environments with many users, consider quieter shredders
  • Do you need to shred CDs / Credit Cards / Paper-clips / Staples in addition to paper?
  • If the shredder might be moved around the office, choose one with castors
  • Pull out bins are easier to empty
  • Shredders with bigger bins need to be emptied less often
